Project Overview:
The project explores the idea of unique sound and its value. In an effort to find the “next best sound”, we focused on the use of the human voice. The voice is treated as a personal identifier, something that is unique to each individual and can be used for authentication and generating visuals.
Through different music visualisers, each vocal input creates a visual result. The value or money given is determined by how unique each outcome is. In this way, the project links sound and uniqueness, showing how individuality affects worth.
At its foundation, the system appears more inclusive, where access to money is controlled by the uniqueness of the sound. It initially gives more opportunity to those typically left behind.
Wealth accumulates around those who are able to produce the most valuable sounds. As a result of this, the wealthier can purchase objects to support their sound creation. Eventually, social hierarchies form as everyone chases the next most unique result.
Over time, this pursuit strips sound of its emotional meaning. The constant pressure to be new and different will change their perception of music over time
